FAQs

We recommend booking your travel vaccination appointment as soon as you know your travel plans — ideally 6 to 8 weeks before you travel, to allow time for any necessary vaccine courses to be completed.

Balance Pharmacy provides a full range of travel vaccinations — including, but not limited to, yellow fever, typhoid, hepatitis A & B, rabies, Japanese encephalitis and more, depending on your travel destination and itinerary.

During your consultation, our pharmacists assess your destination, length of stay, planned activities, and medical history. Based on that, they recommend the vaccines you need for safe travel.

As part of travel preparation you should ensure you’re up-to-date with your routine UK vaccinations (e.g., diphtheria, tetanus, polio, MMR). If your last dose was many years ago, a booster may be recommended — especially if travelling to high-risk regions.

It is always better to plan ahead, but if you book as soon as you can there may still be options. Some vaccines need more time or multiple doses, so earlier is best — but contact us and we’ll advise what can realistically be done for your timeline.

Yes — during your consultation we will ask for your travel itinerary, countries you will visit, duration, and any medical conditions or medications you take. This ensures safe and appropriate recommendations.

Yes — travel vaccinations provided privately (i.e. outside of routine NHS immunisations) are usually charged. At Balance Pharmacy we offer “competitive pricing” and transparent costs, depending on which vaccines you need.

For certain destinations — for example where diseases like yellow fever are concerned — you may need an official vaccination certificate (also known as an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis, ICVP). Always check entry requirements for your destination.

Because health risks and entry requirements can change, we recommend discussing your travel itinerary with us as soon as your plans are confirmed — and reviewing up-to-date travel health advice (for example from official health-advice websites). Our pharmacists base recommendations on the latest guidance tailored to your journey.
