WHO IT’S FOR

Who Can Have the HPV Vaccine?

You may be suitable for vaccination if:

  • You are aged 9 to 45 years old

  • You missed the vaccine at school and would like to catch up

  • You want private vaccination for additional protection

  • You are at increased risk due to sexual behaviour or exposure

  • You are a man who has sex with men (MSM)

Parents or guardians can give consent for children under 16.

Who Should Not Have the HPV Vaccine?

The vaccine may not be suitable if you:

  • Are under 9 or over 45 years old

  • Are pregnant (vaccination can be done after pregnancy)

  • Have had a severe allergic reaction to a previous HPV vaccine or its ingredients

  • Are unwell with a high fever (mild illnesses are usually fine)

HPV Vaccine Schedule (How Many Doses Do I Need?)

Your vaccine schedule depends on your age and health:

 

Ages 9–24 years Ages 25–45 years Individuals who are immunocompromised or living with HIV
One-dose schedule (most people in this age group only need a single dose) Two-dose schedule

  • • First dose: Day 0
  • • Second dose: 6–24 months later
Three-dose schedule

  • • Dose 1: Day 0
  • • Dose 2: 1 month later
  • • Dose 3: At least 3 months after dose 2
